I bought Elba potatoes because they are best for boiling. They are also good for mashed potatoes. Don’t you have to boil a potato before mashing it?

I looked at the flour at Ruby’s. He has a wide selection, even gluton-free flour. God knows what that is? There basic flour is $1 a pound instead of $.99 at Domino Foods but their White Hard (Bread) Flour is $1.20. I bought a big bag full — let’s see how good the bread I make from it is.

George recommended “fresh ocean catfish.” Now we all know catfish don’t live in the ocean. Turns out is really cusk fish from Iceland. We’ll see if it tastes like catfish.

Deliso’s has their own line if spices. They are new and figuring out what they will be but are worth looking at later. They are five dollars each.

Brine

This was given to me by Richard at his great Stratford restaurant with a dumb name: Grub.

Use a brine when you cook chicken:

• 3 tablespoons honey
• Cup of salt
• Litre of water
• Herbs
• Onions

Leave it for three hours to a day

He said you should always put a vinegar and water brine on chicken before grilling it.

He cooked much of meal using the sous vide method. Something to think about for the future.

Lamb Rogan Josh at Jaipur Grille

I bought Lamb Rogan Josh at Jaipur Grille on November 12. It was okay but I could make myself! I Googled the dish and Jamie Oliver’s recipe came up first.

I would rather make this myself than buy it again.
